ABOUT ME

I earned my Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom. My major research interest is in the area of advanced machining within the context of sequential/hybrid machining on engineered wood or any advanced materials. Most recently I have examined how to improvise the machining parameters for laser and mechanical drilling on 25mm carbon fibre reinforced polymer composites (CFRP) in order to achieve the best hole quality. In a separate line of research I have examined how to integrate both laser and mechanical drilling on CFRP (i.e. 25mm thick) as well as to analyze the effects of sequential machining process, which this is the most intricate machining process so far that I have ever experienced. In another line of research I have been collaborating with my colleagues on a series of studies exploring dimensional stability of particleboard made using glutardialdehyde modified corn starch as the binder at various relative humidity.

I am currently one of the researchers in Advanced Material Research Cluster at the Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK). I am also recognized as a 'Professional Technologist (P.Tech.)' awarded by the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT) in the field of manufacturing & industrial technology, which it officially carries a title called 'Ts.'

I teach Furniture Manufacturing Technology, Wood Product Design, Forest Observation & Measurement, Wood & Non-Wood Processing Technology, and will soon be offering courses on Advanced Machining, and Life-Cycle Assessment & Professional Ethics in Wood-Based Industries for an undergraduate programme called 'Forest Resources Technology' at Faculty of Bioengineering & Technology, UMK Jeli Campus.
